Essential FAQs for Lockaway Storage Customers

Insurance coverage?

The site has public liability insurance however we do not insure your personal items.

How are the units secured?

All our units are shut with a lockable pad bolt. We ask customers to supply there own padlocks which means only you have access to your unit. We do however sell padlocks on site if anyone needs one.

Site Security

Our facility offers a secure yard that is for self storage purposes only. Meaning the only people with assess to the barns are storage customers. The yard is covered by 24hr CCTV, which is monitored in the house and office. Our alarm systems is activated after hours.

Recommendations on how to store items?

Over the years we have been asked how to store certain items. We have learnt a couple of tips we are happy to share.

  • Make sure everything going in to your unit is dry and if you move in on a rainy day pop up and open your shipment container on a hot day to encourage any condensation not to pool in the unit. Make sure washing machines, fridges ect have had their water traps emptied and dried.

  • store paper work and important books in plastic containers with lids if possible this gives them much better protection in long term storage.

  • Whilst loading your unit places anything you may need in the front for easy access.

  • Make sure fabrics being stored are clean and dry.

Can I attch things to the walls of the units?

We ask that you do not attach anything to the walls of the rented units as this caused significant damage for the next customer. Shelves are no allowed however many customers use free standing shelving units successfully.

Costs?

We try to make the costs of renting with us simple and easy to understand. Your monthly payment is due on the day you moved in every month e.g. if you moved in on the 4th your standing order will be set up for the 4th every month.

Other than the monthly fee the only extra cost incurred is a £10 fob deposit for the secure gate system that is refunded once the fob is returned.

VAT is included in all our listed prices. We also offer a 10% discount on second units if more than one unit is required.

Opening times?

We have office opening times and access times.

If you need to talk with a member of staff the office is open 9am -5pm Monday to Friday.

You can access your unit 6am - 9pm 7 days a week. After 9pm our security systems come on and the security gates will no longer open.
